13 more die of heatstroke in Karachi

Death toll crosses 1,216 figure; Bilawal, Sindh CM, PPP senators, ministers visit city hospitals

KARACHI: At least 13 more people died due to heatstroke in public and private hospitals of the port city on Sunday and the death toll due to heatwave-related causes crossed the figure of 1,216 in the last nine days.
The Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, PPP senators and ministers visited different public hospitals to inquire after the under-treatment patients.
At least five patients undergoing medical treatment for heatstroke and dehydration died at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) while the body of a person who had died due to heatstroke was brought to the health facility.
