Court allows shifting of Axact CEO to Islamabad

KARACHI: A local court on Wednesday granted permission to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to transfer the custody of Axact CEO Shoaib Shaikh and four others facing fake degree scam to FIA Islamabad.
The FIA had moved an application in the court of district and sessions judge (South) seeking permission to move Shoiab Shaikh and four other accused to Islamabad for interrogation in the cases registered in Islamabad.The court allowed the transfer of Shoaib Shaikh, Zeeshan Ahmed, Zeeshan Anwar, Muhammad Sabir and Axact’s COO Viqas Atiq to Islamabad.
The FIA had stated in the application moved in the court of District and Sessions Judge (South) headed by Ahmed Sabah that Shoaib Shaikh and four other accused in the fake degree scam were needed to be transferred to Islamabad so they could face the pending cases against them. The court had heard arguments on this plea and the attorneys for Shoaib and other accused had opposed the plea but the court considered the viewpoint of the FIA and finally allowed the FIA to others to Islamabad with regard to the pending cases and they would be tried in Islamabad.
It is learnt that the FIA investigators had already been made all preparations for shifting Shaikh and other suspects involved in issuance of fake degrees online and money laundering, to send Islamabad.
A three-member FIA team was assigned to go Karachi from Islamabad and bring Shaikh and four other accused to Islamabad.The Sindh Home Department was informed by the team in this regard and after obtaining the court’s permission, the accused would be transferred to Islamabad.
The same team had also been assigned to initiate process to find out and arrest Aisha Shaikh, wife of Shoaib Shaikh, who is also among the accused in fake degree and money laundering cases.
