RAWALPINDI: Interior Minister Chaudary Nisar on Friday said cases would be lodged against Axact as a transparent investigation into the fake degree scandal was underway.
He said evidence in the Axact case were coming to the surface fast. He said the government had written a letter to the UK with reference to the scandal and dispatch of another letter to the UAE had been approved.
Addressing a public meeting here at Chak Beli Khan, Nisar said the Interior Ministry will be contacting the US investigation agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), to provide legal assistance to the FIA in the investigation.
Nisar said the FIA had written to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Pakistan Software Houses Association (Pasha) to apprise them on the matter.
He said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor would open new avenues of economic progress as all political parties had agreed on the route of the corridor. He said the modus operandi for progress in the Imran Farooq murder case had been agreed with the British government and in the coming days, viable progress would be made.
The minister said the PML-N government had made a unanimous policy against terrorism and a neighbouring country’s defence minister’s statement showed who was behind terrorism in the country.
Talking to media persons after the public meeting, Nisar denied reports of any differences with the prime minister. He regretted that the media published an unverified report about his meeting with the prime minister.
He said the PTI allegations of rigging in the general election 2013 were wrong, adding that the elections were held by the caretaker government. He said the PTI should put its house in order after the publication of Justice (retd) Wajihuddin report on party election.
