KARACHI: Four men, including a local leader of the Ahle-Sunnat Wal-Jamat, his son and younger brother, were killed by armed men in the Malir City and Liaquatabad areas of the city on Thursday night while two suspected militants were killed in an encounter in which two police personnel were also injured.
In the first incident, armed men on a motorcycles shok three men who were sitting in a hotel, killing two of them and seriously injuring the other.All the dead and injured were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) where the injured also succumbed to bullet wounds.
Dr. Seemi Jamali said the deceased were identified as Syed Abdul Wahab 65, Farmanullah 35 and Asmatullah, 30 who suffered multiple bullet wounds.DSP Al-Falah Chanzeb said armed men on a motorcycle opened fire on three men who were sitting at Khyber Hotel in Bagh-e-Malir near Malir City, killing all three persons.
He said the Syed Wahab was the owner of the hotel while Farmanullah and Asmatullah were his sons, who died in the firing.A spokesman for ASWJ Umer Muavia claimed that Syed Abdul Wahab was their leader of Malir District and strongly condemning the incident of terrorism, termed it an act of sectarian violence.
Following the incident of targeted killing, SHO Al-Falah police station Tehseen Baig was reverted and suspended by the senior police officials.On the other hand, armed men shot dead a young man in Liaquatabad furniture market, who could not be identified.
Super Market Police said an unidentified young man of around 22 years of age was shot and injured by the armed men near Babe Fatima Imambargah in Liaquatabad, who was shifted to Abbassi Shaheed Hospital where he expired during treatment.They said they found no identity papers with the killed man and added that they were investigating the motive behind his killing and his whereabouts.
