ISLAMABAD: Former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf will head a new political alliance of three factions of the Pakistan Muslim League.
The understanding and agreement to make a new alliance of the three factions of the Muslim Leagues—All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F)—has been reached between the three factions of the Muslim Leagues during a visit of PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
It was agreed in the meeting that there would neither any other office bearers of the alliance nor these parties would be merged, and former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf will head the alliance.
PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, who returned from Karachi to Islamabad after holding the meeting with former President (retd) General Pervez Musharraf and PML-F chief Pir Pigara, said that the new alliance is being formed not against any one but with a view to bringing the like-minded Leaguers on a single platform to bring the country out of crisis.
He said initially this alliance will consist of three political parties —PML-Q, APML and PML-F— and later on other political parties could also be invited in the alliance.Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain is expected to make contact with Saleem Saifullah and other annoyed Muslim Leaguers to stand united on one platform.
