Anti-Altaf resolution turned down in Sindh Assembly on second day

PML-N tables resolution in Punjab Assembly; demands Centre to initiate treason case against MQM chief

KARACHI: A resolution against the MQM chief Altaf Hussain could not be presented in the Sindh Assembly on Tuesday, the second day which saw commotion. Legislators of three opposition parties – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) – tried to move a resolution against Altaf’s speech in which he had passed controversial remarks against the army and integrity of Sindh.
The move was again turned down by the chair. The lawmakers resorted to protest in the House as they were not allowed to speak or move their anti-MQM resolution. Our correspondent adds from Lahore: PML-N MPA Raheela Khadim Hussain on Tuesday tabled a resolution against MQM chief Altaf Hussain. Earlier, PML-Q, JI and PTI had put forth similar resolutions against the MQM chief.The resolution states that the House condemns Altaf Hussain’s statement against the Pakistan Army. It also demands the federal government to initiate a treason case against him.
