KARACHI: Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said the nation is united to protect Harmain Sharifain and no discriminatory law against the seminaries would be accepted.
He vowed to defend the boundaries of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and fight all its enemies. The JUI chief said that no discriminatory law will be accepted against the Madaris and added that any attempt to make the country liberal and secular will be foiled.
He said that Pakistan’s Islamic identity will be protected. He said that those wanting to make a new Pakistan actually wanted to convert the country into “nude Pakistan”, which is not acceptable.
He was addressing the Tahaffuz-e-Harmain Sharifain Rally organised by the JUI-F at the Gul Centre on MA Jinnah Road on Friday. The rally started from Sohrab Goth.
Senate Deputy Chairman Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, JUI-F’s provincial secretary Rashid Mehmood Soomro, Qari Muhammad Usman, Maulana Saud Afzal, Maulana Abdur Razzak Abid, Aslam Ghouri, Mufti Muhammad Naeem, Nair Mehmood Soomro and others also spoke on the occasion.
People are being hanged just to show the performance of the government to the world, Fazl said, adding the killers of Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro are not being produced in court. The government should clearly declare the people wearing turbans and sporting beard as rascals, he said. “We are ready to face the rulers who are under the influence of the West,” he asserted.
Fazl said that raids at seminaries were actually a conspiracy against Islam. The US and the West are creating disturbances in the name of peace. The Ummah is passing through a difficult time of its history, he said. Efforts are being made to challenge the sanctity of the Holy places, he said.
“We stand by the Kingdom and will protect the holy places. The fire that was lit 13 years ago by attacking Afghanistan has now engulfed Yemen after Iraq, Egypt and Libya,” he said.
This is not a war against terrorism but is a war aimed at snatching away the independence of the country, he said. The rulers of the Asian and Middle Eastern countries should realise, he said, that the war has put the Muslim Ummah in danger. “What we feared 13 years ago has come true with the passage of time,” he said.
The relations of Pakistan with the kingdom demand that ‘we should come up to their expectations’.May 1, he said, is the day to remember the struggle of labourers. “On this day, we want an end to capitalism and feudalism and that labourers are given their due right,” he said.
Fazl said the world needs peace and the JUI is the force that can bring peace. He said the present suffering of the country was due to the wrong policies of Musharraf. Deputy Chairman Senate Abdul Ghafoor Haideri said, “Raid at any Madrassa across the country is not acceptable.” He said being the head of an institution, he could assure the participants that no one will ever be able to harm or close the seminaries. He said protection of the Haramain Sharifain is the duty of the world and the Ummah.
Muslims will render all sacrifices for the Haramain Sharifain. He said the seminaries had certain reservations in the present situation. It should be kept in mind that the seminaries had a great role in the formation of the country. The people raising voices at present had actually no role in the creation of Pakistan, he claimed.
Qari Muhammad Usman said the rally taken out today proved that Karachi is a city of Ghulaman-e-Mustafa. It is a city of people who love and will also sacrifice for the seminaries, he said. “I warn the anti-Islam forces to forget about the attack on the Kingdom.” He said the rulers thought they had achieved their aims after taking action against 800 Madaris and registering cases against 1,400 Ulema.
Rashid Mahmood said, “We will never tolerate the division of Sindh at any cost.” Those who speak about the division of Sindh actually want to create differences between nationalities, he said. “We condemn their designs.” He said any attempt to divide the province would be resisted with full force.
Mufti Naeem said in view of the special brotherly relations, Pakistan should send it troops to the kingdom. He asked the interior minister to stop issuing statements against religious schools, as these schools “are guarantors to security of Islam and integrity of Pakistan”. Nasir Mahmood Soomro said Sindh was the gateway to Islam and would always remain so. He said they are against terrorism but want the killers of Dr Khalid Mahmood Soomro hanged.
