KARACHI: MQM chief Altaf Hussain on Thursday said he did not want to respond to allegations levelled by a “Bhangi” (sweeper) like SSP Rao Anwaar and added that he was trying to trace those in charge of such “Bhangis”.
He demanded the arrest of SSP Anwaar, saying his removal was not enough. He also demanded his punishment and the registration of a case against him. Altaf Hussain was reacting to a press conference by the SSP who had levelled serious allegations against the MQM and called for its banning for allegedly being in league with a foreign agency. Anwaar was transferred from his post soon after the press conference.
Addressing workers from London over the phone, Altaf said: “We are called RAW agents every other day. Those who surrendered are called patriots, while the founders of Pakistan are dubbed traitors.”
He advised workers to get one hour of military training daily. “I don’t care if I am expelled from the UK. We raised the slogan of Pakistan Zindabad at every difficult time. We want to live peacefully. We are being punished for being peaceful.” He also questioned whether the MQM could operate without him.
Meanwhile, talking to a private television channel, Altaf said political or social explosions will soon take place and more provinces will be carved out in the country.“The tables will definitely turn on the masters who are behind today’s press conference by a police official,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Farooq Sattar on Thursday night said the ‘third participant’ besides Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Asif Ali Zardari of a meeting held at the CM House on Wednesday was behind the ‘script’.
Sattar, while speaking in the Geo News programme “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath”, said the person should be identified to understand the motive behind today’s press conference by SSP Malir Rao Anwaar.
He said: “We are certain that the script [against the MQM] was written during last night’s meeting.”Addressing a press conference, Haider Abbas Rizvi said the matter would be taken to court. He said dismissing these ‘absurd allegations’ alone would not resolve this issue.
