ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has said that he will not stage a sit-in even if the decision of the Judicial Commission does not come according to his expectations.
He said this while talking to Hamid Mir in the Geo TV programme ‘Capital Talk’ on Monday. He said that the evidence of rigging was packed in the bags as the Returning Officers (ROs) changed the election results instead of stuffing the bags. He said his party was putting up proof of rigging in 70 national and provincial constituencies.
He said he did not want to go back to parliament before the Judicial Commission’s decision but attended the session because of the Yemen situation. He said Nawaz Sharif had violated the parliamentary resolution and was no more impartial on the Yemen issue.
He said, “Saudi Arabia is a friend and Iran is a neighbour and therefore Pakistan should not jump into anyone’s war.” He said that the civil war of Yemen would become a sectarian war ultimately. He said the Imam-e-Ka’aba could say anything but Allah would not be pleased if Pakistan took part in the Yemen conflict.
He said had the government opened up four constituencies, things would have become clear by now. He said how could Nawaz Sharif deliver a speech at night claiming a clear majority in the polls while voters had returned home in the evening. He said he had a video clip of Najam Sethi saying that all bureaucrats were taking dictation from the Sharif brothers.
He said evidence against former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry would also come up. He said his party got a breakthrough in NA-246 as it was thecontest polls. He said MQM could not be called a political party until it abolished a culture of terror and fear.
He said Nawaz sharif was responsible for cricket crisis in the country. He said cricket mafia was not letting any change come for good, adding that PTI would correct cricket structure after coming into power.
Our correspondent adds: Earlier, Imran Khan claimed that proofs of rigging were lying packed in the polling bags and if opened, proofs would be found and pattern of rigging would also come to fore.
Talking to media persons outside the Supreme Court (SC) after attending the Judicial Commission proceedings, Imran said that polling bags in 60 constituencies should be opened to find out rigging proofs.
About the questionnaire given by the Judicial Commission regarding rigging, PTI chairman maintained the reply of the same lay in polling bags, which might be opened by the special investigation team, envisaged under the Judicial Commission Ordinance. He pointed out that Aitzaz Ahsan had also talked about opening seven constituencies and recalled as many as 21 parties had given statements about rigging in 2013 elections.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also had talked about rigging in the elections, Imran continued. He claimed as the ‘match’ progressed, names of big players would come to surface. PTI chief wondered how the ruling PML-N had achieved two-third majority in 1996 elections, bagging 8 million votes and then how it managed to get 15 million votes in 2013 elections.
“With electoral reforms in the making, if those involved in rigging are not exposed and awarded exemplary punishment simultaneously, there is no possibility of transparent election in future,” he opined.
Imran contended that the arguments given by the PML-N lawyer that the integrity of the judiciary would be undermined in case senior judicial officers would be investigated with regard to rigging. “There are absolutely no chances of undermining the judiciary, if certain judicial officers are probed,” he claimed.
PTI chief argued that investigating wrongdoing of a person associated with an institution could not undermine its integrity.Imran expressed deep grief over the loss of life and property in Peshawar due to torrential rain and storm and said he had asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to step up relief activities and speedily mitigate sufferings of the calamity victims.
PTI chief pointed out that storm and massive rains had devastated wheat crop while underlining the need for compensation to the growers.Among other things, Imran said he had also sent his spouse Reham Khan to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where she would visit victims of the calamity.
