BARA: Five militants were killed and three soldiers sustained injuries in a clash in the Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency on Sunday, official sources said.
The sources said a convoy of security forces was heading to Nari Baba in the Tirah Valley when militants launched an attack and caused injuries to three soldiers. Security forces returned the fire and killed five militants, the sources added.
The injured soldiers, identified as Sepoy Muhammad Asghar, Sepoy Noor and Sepoy Riaz, were shifted to a nearby hospital. However, due to lack of communication system in this remote area, it wasn’t possible to get the details about the incident.
After clearing the major areas during the ‘Operation Khyber-1’ in Bara Tehsil, including Khajuri, Akakhel, Shalobar, Malikdinkhel, Kamarkhel, Qambarkhel and Sepah, security forces have been engaged in fierce clashes with the militants in Tirah Valley bordering the Orakzai and Kurram agencies during the last six months.
Security forces first cleared the plains of Bara and then launched the Khyber-2 Operation in the mountainous Tirah Valley against the outlawed militant groups, the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Mangal Bagh-led Lashkar-i-Islam.
