ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance Senator Ishaq Dar has said the government was committed to the MoU signed with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on the formation of a judicial commission to probe the alleged rigging in the general elections 2013.
Reacting to the PTI chief Imran Khan’s statement in which he said if the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) now backs down on the MoU, the PTI will come out on the streets again, Dar said Imran should not pay heed to gossip.
The minister further said not a single comma or full stop had been amended in the agreement. He said he was in contact with the PTI leader Jahangir Tareen on the issue. He said both the parties showed flexibility over the ordinance pertaining to the judicial commission, adding that the ordinance was also written in the MoU.
Meanwhile, Minister for Information Senator Pervaiz Rashid said the telephonic conversation between Imran Khan and senior leader Arif Alvi regarding the attack on Pakistan Television had exposed the reality of PTI’s protest sit-in.
The minister in a statement said the sit-in of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at the D-Chowk was a conspiracy against the democratic government. He said the audio tape had proven the allegations of veteran politician Javed Hashmi about the nefarious designs of the PTI sit-in. “Like every time, Imran Khan’s double standard has appeared in the tape,” he added.
He said the PTI chief could not defend the contents of the leaked audio tape aired by different news channels. He said the PTI chief should find the persons around him who had recorded and leaked this conversation to the media. He said the names of the PTI leadership should also be included among the attackers on the PTV during the sit-ins.
Pervaiz Rashid said the PTI wanted to come into power through the backdoor and said, “Khan Sahib parliament is not fake now.”He was of the view that there should be an action against those using derogatory language against the elected prime minister.
The minister said Imran Khan was unaware of the country’s foreign policy and sensitive national issues so he should avoid giving statements on the subject.“Pakistan’s bilateral relations with the brother Islamic country (Saudi Arabia) always remained good and cordial.” He asked Imran Khan that use of force, blame-game, derogatory language and sit-in tactics could not be applied everywhere.Pervaiz Rashid regretted that Imran Khan, who claimed to be truthful to the nation, was used to telling lies and fooling the public.
