ISLAMABAD: A report submitted to the interior minister by the Rangers has revealed that many ghost prisoners are undergoing imprisonment in different jails in place of real criminals who were actually sentenced by the courts of law, sources disclosed.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, taking abrupt action on the report, ordered the relevant authorities, including Nadra, the FIA and civil intelligence agencies, to verify the contents of the report, sources said. During the first phase of investigation, Nadra has verified the presence of four ghost inmates undergoing imprisonment in place of real culprits, saying that their records didn’t tally the forensic record of the real culprits.Nisar has ordered an investigation asking to shift the real culprits to jails and lodge criminal cases against the officials involved in the scandal.
