SUKKUR: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Ahmed Shah on Monday said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) supported the operation in Karachi.
He said that the whole nation was united against terrorism and was ready not only to eliminate the menace from the country but to also root out the mindset instigating terrorism, a statement said here on Monday.
Khursheed Shah said that the country’s political forces, supported by the entire nation, had thrown their weight behind the armed forces’ operation against the terrorists. He said the mindset behind terrorism in the name of Islam had given a bad name to religion as well as to Pakistan. “The Army Public School (APS) carnage in Peshawar has forged unity among the rank and file of all the political and military forces,” he said, adding, “We welcome the arrest of suspects in the recent raid on the MQM headquarters in Karachi but condemn the Rangers’ entry into the house of Altaf Hussain’s sister.”
He said that action should be taken against terrorists affiliated with any party.Khursheed Shah further said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan should adopt a positive attitude in talks with the PML-N government as the government and armed forces must be supported by all the countrymen in the ongoing war against terrorism, adding that it was a common cause and all the political forces should opt for peaceful means to resolve their issues.
He said that Raza Rabbani’s uncontested election as the Senate chairman was not the result of “reconciliation” but of the strategy drawn by the PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari. He said a change within the Sindh Assembly could come without mid-term election.
