PDWP approved Rs3.6 projects

PESHAWAR: To combat coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) on Thursday approved three projects worth Rs3.6 billion.

The PDWP meeting was held h under the chairmanship of Shakeel Qadir Khan, the additional chief secretary P&D Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said a handout.

Members of the PDWP and officials of the departments concerned attended the meeting. The forum considered five projects pertaining to Health and Urban Development sectors for the uplift of the province. It approved three projects with an estimated cost of Rs 3.6 billion, while 2 projects were deferred and were returned to their respective departments for rectification. The approved projects of the health include, establishment of six Type-D hospitals in the merged districts, four in Kurram, Orakzai, Mohmand, DI Khan and two hospitals in the South Waziristan district. To enhance the availability of better health services to the people in the rural areas, the meeting also approved the revamping of 9 Rural Health Centers (RHCs) besides the procurement of new medical equipment for these RHCs. The chair also reviewed the development initiatives for Water Sanitation Services Companies (WSSCs) and approved procurement of essential equipment including spray-vehicles for six districts. Additionally, approvals for the projects related to the cleaning of drains in the provinces were also granted.
