SUKKUR: Young Doctors’ Association protested on Wednesday at Civil Hospital Sukkur against the Sindh government over nonpayment of their 13 months of salaries and partially boycotted the OPD. Doctor Abdul Majeed Jatoi along with 200 male and female doctors from Sukkur and Larkana staged a protest at the Civil Hospital, Sukkur, against the Sindh government, adding that they had been performing their services at various quarantine centres without salaries. They said they did not need salutes for their services but wanted salaries to feed their families and protective kits to save themselves while carrying out their duties.

Dr Jatoi said such attitude from the provincial government with young doctors was totally inhumane and unacceptable. He said in prevailing situation, the doctors themselves were purchasing face masks and other protective materials to remain themselves safe, while the district account officers adopted delaying tactics for opening individuals’ salary profiles. He demanded immediate release of their salaries and provision of protective equipments for those performing duties at quarantine centres. General Secretary Khairpur PMA, Dr Zaffar Jatoi said the PMA has also taken the issue to health minister and secretary health Sindh but they did not seem serious in addressing the young doctors’ issue. He said if their salaries of the young doctors would not be released within days, then the PMA would take extreme decision.
