SUKKUR: The district administration, Larkana, is facing a big challenge to shift the individuals who kept themselves in quarantine on suspicion of COVID-19 to government’s quarantine centres as there was an apprehension of local transmission of virus. Reports said at least 17 individuals suspected of COVID-19 positive, who quarantined themselves at their homes, reportedly visit their relatives and other places in the city. It said a retired school teacher at Munnawarabad in Larkana became corona positive along with his family members and went into self quarantine at their house.

However, a man residing at Areja in Larkana became victim of COVID-19, and his family members kept themselves in to quarantine at their home, while health department did not deploy police to stop their movements. Meanwhile, the villagers were afraid of local transmission of the virus asking the authorities to take appropriate measures to prevent any possible disaster. SSP Larkana Masood Ahmed Bangash said it was the duty of health department to inform the local police for assistance. It is pertinent to mention that the families that kept themselves into quarantine could only be stopped from visiting outside by providing them the basic necessities.

District Health Officer Larkana Athar Shah said the corona positive man residing in Areja village went himself along with his family members into quarantine at his home. Meanwhile, neighbours of the families that went into self quarantine expressed their concerns over local transmission of virus but the administration was reluctant to pay attention to the issue that might get worse any time.
