LAHORE:The prime minister and provincial chief ministers should ensure that the workers employed in industrial and commercial units including construction industry are paid their wages regularly in accordance with the provision of Payment of Wage Act 1936 in phase of pandemic coronavirus.
It is also duty of the state that the workers employed in industries such as textile, construction, banks and media stay safe and healthy at their workplaces against coronavirus. It is a matter of concern that workers employed both on permanent and daily labour in the private sector in some industries were laid off without providing any social protection, therefore, the government is strongly urged to redress their economic and social suffering including daily wage labour.
