LAHORE:A special meeting of the Executive Council of Engineers Study Forum was held here on Monday.
Mian Fazal Ahmad, president of the forum, welcomed the incentives announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan to invigorate the construction sector covering the companies concerned. The prevailing lockdown needs to be relaxed. Instead public education through media may be enhanced for protection against Covid-19. To achieve definite positive results of vitalising the construction sector, it is imperative that the federal and provincial governments identify construction projects to be participated by the construction sector, he said.
The Engineers Study Forum suggests that the federal and provincial governments may announce vital construction projects on BOT, BOOT, BLT or other recognised modes duly needed for various areas of housing, water supply, telecommunication and power development, etc. in which construction sector can participate, especially on public private partnership basis. For approval of housing projects, approval procedures need to be simplified to accelerate construction activities in this sector, he said.
