The present government wants to promote construction to generate economic activity. But the question is: what to construct? Construction activity at present is concentrated in building posh houses in housing societies which is a dead investment. The best course would be to start construction of schools and dispensaries in villages, towns and cities. Our 25 million children are out of school. They need more than 100 thousand schools, a million teachers and half a million supporting staff.
This will generate economic activity in the country in no time and change the face of country in five years. The cost will not be more than the cost of a few fighter aircraft. Mind it, there is nothing like shortage if resources in economics. It is the allocation of available resources that matters.
