The demand for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is increasing in our country because additional healthcare facilities including quarantine centers are being set up to cope with the increasing number of patients. Fortunately, China has sent us a large quantity of medical equipment including PPE. Some PPE such as protective clothing, face masks, etc are also being manufactured by the textile industry in the country. PPE is primarily required by doctors, nurses and other medical staff and it is extremely important that all PPE provided to them is clean and infection free.
However, some PPEs manufacturers have not adopted social distancing and other precautions. Therefore, the concerned authorities are requested to ensure that standard operating procedures (SOPs), including precautions to avoid virus contamination, are being followed by such manufacturers. Similarly, industries manufacturing basic necessities such as medicine, food, etc should also take all necessary precautions in this regard.
