Lightning kills one in Landikotal

LANDIKOTAL: A volunteer of Zakhakhel Amn committee was killed and two others including a security forces soldier wounded when lightning hit Kabul Dara hilltops near the Pak-Afghan border in Bazaar Zakhakhel area of Khyber district, officials said on Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner Mehmood Aslam Wazir told The News that lightning struck the area near security forces checkpost at the border with Afghanistan. As a result, Amn committee volunteer identified as Gulbadan, who was on duty, died on the spot while two others identified as Ajab Gul and Khan Saeed were injured. The injured were rushed a hospital in Landikotal, he said. Meanwhile, lightning also hit a home in Loey Shalman area. However, no casualty was reported.
