Cops in Mansehra given protection gear

MANSEHRA: The cops in the district equipped with protection gears, an official said on Friday.

“The policemen performing duty at entry and exit points of quarantine centres and such other vulnerable places in the district have been provided such kits. We will provide such kits to all the cops,” District Police Officer Sadiq Baloch told a ceremony here. He said that besides doctors and health staffs, the police were also performing at forefront to combat Covid-19.

Meanwhile, over 300 thalassemic children registered with two blood donation centres here are without transfusion. “There is a grim situation for thalassemic children since government clamped down a lockdown and donors are not coming to centres for blood donations,” Dr Mohammad Ali, ex-head of a United Nations population fund’ (UNFPA) regional office here on Friday. He said that a total of 300 thalassemic children of ages from six months to 22 years, were registered with Khandan Blood donors and Kashmir blood donor’s organisation but most of them were not being regularly transfused with bloods since government clamped down lockdown. He appealed civil society to come forward to donate bloods for those 300 thalassemic children who were more vulnerable to Covid-19 as compared to normal ones.
