Youth commits suicide

LAHORE:A 25-year-old youth committed suicide by taking poisonous pills in Baghbanpura area here on Monday.

The deceased hailed from Madina Colony. It was reported that the youth had taken poisonous pills over an unknown issue. As a result, his condition went critical. He was rushed to a local hospital where he expired.

Body found: A 30-year-old man was found dead in the limits of Naulakha police here on Monday. Police claimed that the man yet to be identified was an addict and might have died of excessive use of drugs. Police shifted the body to morgue to ascertain the cause of the death.

Ceremony: Ceremony in honour of officers promoted from inspectors to DSPs was held at PHP headquarters here on Monday.

Additional IG Punjab Highway Patrol and SP Headquarters placed the shoulder badges to the officers for DSP positions. The growth in the department position and the rise of the ranks actually reflected the increase in the responsibilities of the police officer, said the Additional IG PHP.

arrested: Police registered 818 cases against violation of Section 144 and arrested 1,095 people during the last 24 hours. Police released 209 people on warning. Since the start of the lockdown, collectively 5,663 cases were registered under violation of Section 144.
