The Sindh chief minister has appealed to the people of Pakistan and the Pakistanis living abroad to donate money for the Emergency Corona Fund established by the Sindh government to help it fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was stated in a statement issued by Sindh Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah on Monday. He said donations could be deposited in the Sindh Bank account number IBAN - PK75SIND000-3015594456100.

The account details for those in the United States and United Kingdom who want to donate to the Corona virus Emergency Fund of the Sindh government and want a tax exemption are as following: “The I-care America Fund, Inc.” On Account: Government of Sindh Coronavirus Emergency Fund Bank of America Charles River Park, 161 Cambridge Street, Boston, MA02114Account Number - 223026206461Routing Number - 026009593Swift code - BOFAUS3N.

Nasir said the government could not control the spread of coronavirus without the cooperation of the people. “Together we will get rid of the coronavirus pandemic,” he said.

He stated that at this moment, the government was most concerned about the people belonging to the working class, especially the daily wagers. He said the government was considering various options to provide rations and cash to such people.

In this regard, the Sindh government was also launching a mobile registration system, through which all the needy people would be registered first and then after verification, cash would be transferred to them through mobile cash transfer service, the information minister said.

Telling about the verification process, Nasir said the services of the National Database Registration Authority (Nadra), Federal Board of Revenue, State Bank of Pakistan and Federal Investigation Agency had been sought in this regard. He said only one person from a family would be registered and then cash would be transferred through their mobile number.

Nasir said with the assistance of the Federal Investigation Agency, the data of all those people who travelled abroad would be obtained because the government knew that the poor people had also gone to perform Umrah.
