ISLAMABAD: Former Member of the National Assembly Jamshaid Ahmad Dasti will appear before the Returning Officer Muzaffar Garh today (Sunday) where he will face scrutiny of his nomination papers for the election in NA-177 and NA-178 constituencies. He is contesting for the both. Jamshaid Dasti who has been confined in Multan prison after sentence on degree issue for three years would be brought from the prison as the RO has summoned him for the purpose.

In the meanwhile division bench of Lahore high court comprising Justice Chaudhary Ejaz Ahmad and Justice Ebadur Rehman Lodhi has accepted the appeal of Jamshaid Dasti for hearing on Saturday and it would be heard tomorrow (Monday). Shaikh Jamshaid Hayat advocate and Jam Muhammad Younis Advocate will appear in the learned court on behalf of Jamshaid Dasti.

According to the sources close to the former member of the Parliament, Jamshaid Dasti has been offered better class in the jail but he has declined to avail any extra ordinary facility and he is living with ordinary prisoners in the Multan Jail. Jamshaid Dasti’s younger brother Javaid Dasti is still in the run from the both constituencies and in case Jamshaid’s appeal is accepted, he would come back to the contest as the people of the areas have impressed upon him to not withdraw, the sources said.

Dasti brothers are hopeful that they would give tough time to Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) candidates Major (Retired) Khalid Gurmani in NA-177 and Sardar Abbas in NA-178 in the upcoming polls. Major Khalid Gurmani is maternal grandson of political wizard of the former West Pakistan late Nawab Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani.
