ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday said that the nomination forms submitted by the election candidates were open to all as anyone from that constituency might acquire their copies.


“Under the law, an elector or any other person or civil society residing in a constituency can acquire a copy of the nomination papers, accompanying declarations and statements, filed by a candidate from that constituency,” said the ECP spokesman.


The person desiring to have copies of the nomination papers would have to pay a fee of Rs10/ per page in the shape of Court Fee Stamp. The Election Commission also contradicted a news item stating refusal by the ECP to give copies of nomination forms to people and said the nomination forms were printed in a sufficient quantity to facilitate prospective candidates for general election 2013.


The spokesman said the adequate numbers of nomination forms were sent to all Returning Officers appointed for conducting upcoming elections. These forms were always available with Returning Officers for supply to any interested persons. He said the ECP also puts nomination forms of all categories on its website for easy access by candidates and the voters as well.


He said there is no administrative legal bars to obtain a nomination form from concerned Returning Officers of the respective constituency, or download it form ECP’s website.
