KARACHI: The docudrama ‘Chal Parha’ (translated to ‘Let’s Educate’) highlights the state of public schools across Pakistan.

The show is narrated by Shehzad Roy, a musician from Pakistan who is known for his socio-political songs such as ‘Laga Reh’ and ‘Apney Ulloo’. He is also president of the educational NGO, Zindagi Trust, that has been reforming public schools in Pakistan since 2007.

In this Geo News show, Shehzad travels across 80 cities in Pakistan and covers more than 200 public schools. In each of the 23 episodes, a new issue in public education is explored, for example, medium of instruction, curriculum, teachers and corporal punishment.

Shehzad highlights both the obstacles in improving government schools and also the remarkable individuals who are committed to teaching and learning despite the collapsed system in which they live.

The show is intended to create awareness among Pakistani citizens for their basic right to quality education and also suggests solutions to the government to resolve the issues in each episode.

Chal Parha also showcases Pakistan’s scenic beauty and diverse cultures. Chal Parha will be aired on every Friday and Saturday at 7: 30pm on Geo News and on every Saturday and Sunday at 5:00pm on Geo TV.
