PESHAWAR: Unidentified gunmen shot dead another doctor outside his clinic in Liaqat Bazaar in Peshawar Cantonment on Tuesday.

Sources said that Dr Shah Nawaz Ali, an eye specialist working as head of the Eye Department at the Lady Reading Hospital, was standing outside his clinic in Liaqat Bazaar when three armed men opened fire, killing him on the spot.

The gunmen fled the scene after committing the crime. The police launched search, but no arrest could be made. Dr Riaz Hussain, who was president of the Pakistan People’s Party Kurram Agency chapter, was killed when he was driving to his clinic in Dabgari Garden on January 09.

Also, Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Ihtisham Ali was attacked near his house in Hayatabad when armed motorcyclists opened fire on his car last Saturday. The judge had received a bullet in the back while his wife, also a civil judge, escaped unharmed.

Our correspondent from Kohat adds: The outlawed Lashkar-e-Jangvi (LeJ) claimed responsibility for killing another doctor in Peshawar. Talking to reporters from an undisclosed location, LeJ spokesman Abu Sufyan claimed the killing of Dr Shah Nawaz in Peshawar.
