LAHORE: Chairman Ulema and Mashaikh Council Pakistan, Maulana Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, who was kidnapped from Islamabad on Thursday evening, was recovered from a nearby area late at night. He has been admitted in a local hospital for treatment and his condition is stated to be stable. His kidnappers have also been arrested and shifted to an unknown place.


Sources told The News that Tahir Ashrafi had reached the German Embassy in Islamabad at around 5pm on Thursday but never returned. Rumours of his kidnaping spread alerting the law enforcement agencies. Sources said the sensitive agencies and local police intercepted the kidnappers in a nearby area and recovered Ashrafi who was safe but unconscious as the kidnappers had intoxicated him.
