The sources said that a labourer identified as Shabbir was working in a mine when the explosion occurred due to accumulation of gas. He was killed instantly. Two workers were killed in an explosion in the same area on Saturday.

The Coal Workers’ Federation protested the incident and demanded provision of better facilities and safety measures to reduce human losses.President of the federation Fazal Rabbi said that several miners had lost their lives due to lack of safety measures and non-availability of better facilities. He said the site was declared dangerous by the Mine Department but the contractors were yet to close it due to which several precious human lives had been lost.
