LALAMUSA: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Sunday that the PPP was a political force and was not afraid of elections.

 

Talking to media at a Walima ceremony of Ch Tariq Zaman Kaira’s son, he said elections would be held on time and not on anyone’s desire or demand. Regarding the sacrilegious film which has caused protests across Pakistan, Kaira said that the whole world should peacefully protest the blasphemous film, which was the right of Muslims.

 

Speaking on the occasion, PPP Punjab President Imtiaz Safdar Warraich said the constitution of Pakistan does not allow writing to a foreign court for the trial of the President of Pakistan as he enjoyed immunity under article 248.

 

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Khurshid Ahmed Shah said that the opposition had been demanding elections for the last four years but they would not be held on its demand. Consultation would be held with opposition leader and other political parties on the caretaker setup, Shah added.

 

Former prime minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Ch Aitzaz Ahsan, President Azad Kashmir Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob, federal ministers- Haider Abbas Rizvi, Sardar Bahadur Khan, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Tasneem Qureshi, MNAs, MPAs and other political leaders and workers attended the Walima ceremony.
