SUKKUR: Rainwater after submerging 200 villages in Osta Muhammed has entered in Jacobabad city inundating its surrounding areas.

Panic and fear prevailed in the area as citizens started shifting their household to safer places.

Reports said that the local administration has planned to develop cuts on the National Highway to protect the city from flooding. However, the army has reached the area to rescue the citizens.

Seven districts, including Jacobabad, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Khairpur, Larkana and Kamber-Shahdadkot are submerged under four feet of floodwater. The vitims urged the authorities to protect the city from flood water by constructing a ring dyke around the area.

They staged protests against the apathy of the government officials.

They complained that TMAs, irrigation department as well as relief and rehabilitation department had failed to drain out the stagnant water, which caused collapse of their houses.

They added that stocks of wheat, other edible items and fodder lying in their houses also washed away in the rainwater.
