QUETTA: A shutter-down strike was observed in various cities of Balochistan including the provincial capital on Friday against the killing of 10 labourers in Mastung on Thursday.
It is worth mentioning that 10 labourers were killed and four others were injured when unknown gunmen opened fire at them while they were busy working on a Quetta-Karachi development project in the Dasht area of Mastung district. In Quetta, all markets and trade centres in Liaquat Bazaar, Abdul Sattar Road, Meezan Chowk, Qandhari Bazaar, Jinnah Road, Masjid Road, Toughi Road and other areas remained closed.
Traffic on the roads also remained very thin, creating problems for commuters and scores of people was seen waiting at bus stops. Complete shutter-down strike was also observed in Mastung where not a single shop was open and the roads presented a deserted look.Heavy contingent of police at sensitive locations in various districts of the province remained alert to deal with any untoward situations.
