ISLAMABAD: Acting Speaker of the National Assembly Faisal Karim Khan Kundi who is in his native town Dera Ismail Khan, has announced not to follow decision of the provincial government of KPK and asked the people to observe Eid on Monday (tomorrow) as per announcement made by the Central Reuet-e-Hilal Committee. Kundi who belongs to the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and defeated Maulana Fzalur Rehman in the election to become member of the National Assembly, pointed out that Maulana isn’t clear about the sighting of Shawwal moon as some of his followers are confused and claimed that they have seen the moon but they have come out with their witnesses after the announcement was made about observing the Eid on Monday.

 

The religious scholars of Dera Ismail Khan have informed Kundi that Eid would be observed in DI Khan on Monday. Incidentally confusion has spread in neighbouring district Tank and some other areas that whether Eid would be observed on Sunday or not.

 

Hazara and Abbottabad areas have also announced not to standby the provincial government and follow decision of the central committee.

 

This announcement has created dissension in the province.

 

According to Kundi the KPK authorities have asked the districts administration in the province to follow decision of the provincial Ruet Committee and make arrangements for Eid on Sunday.

 

Faisal Karim Kundi chaired the meeting of distinguished people and religious scholars of DI Khan on Saturday late evening and announced to follow decision of the Central Committee.

 

It is second time that chairman Central Committee Maulana Muneeb-ur-Rehman had disputed with the KPK government on sighting of moon and picked quarrel with the provincial government. The Maulana belongs to the KPK but he resides in Karachi.
