ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on Thursday said that the federal government would extend all possible assistance to the projects in Karachi, since it considered development of the city as vital for the progress of Pakistan.

 

He was talking to a nine-member delegation, led by Dr. Farooq Sattar, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, who called on him here at the PM House.The prime minister said that the leadership of the MQM and the Pakistan People’s Party enjoyed good relations and were working in close cooperation.

 

Progress on various mega-projects in Karachi, including the Lyari Expressway, Karachi Circular Railways, Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway, Karachi Water Supply projects and Karachi Mass Transit Scheme were discussed in detail. Dr. Farooq Sattar requested the prime minister to inaugurate the Lyari Expressway in September this year which the prime minister accepted.

 

The meeting was attended by Senator Syeda Sughra Imam, Dr.Nadeem Ehsan, Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis, and MNAs Syed Haider Abbas Rizvi, Syed Tayyab Hussain, Sufiyan Yousuf, Syed Asif Hasnain, Dr. Abdul Qadir Khanzada, Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan and Khawaja Sohail Mansoor.
