ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Tuesday enjoyed a lighter interlude when Committee Chairman Nadeem Afzal Chan responded to Secretary Water and Power Zafar Mehmood — who sought permission to leave the meeting owing to a summons to appear before the Supreme Court — by saying “God save you from the Supreme Court!”
The chairman’s spontaneous remark brought smiles to the faces of committee members as well as other senior officials who attended Thursday’s meeting.It was during the middle of the PAC meeting, just as the audit paras and compliance of PAC directives relating to Wapda was about to start, that Zafar Mehmmod approached Chairman Nadeem Afzal’s seat and requested to be relieved, prompting the latter to make his humorous comment.
