ISLAMABAD: The minimum amount of ‘Sadqa-e-Fitr’ or ‘fitrana’ has been fixed at Rs80 per head this year, which is paid to the poor and needy before Eidul Fitr, said Moulana Shoaib, a religious scholar. Talking to this agency, Moulana Shoaib said according to the market price of 2.25 kilograms flour, the amount for ‘fitrana’ has been calculated at Rs80. The faithful who wants to pay ‘fitrana’ equal to the price of barley, ‘khajoor’ (dates) and ‘kishmish’ should pay Rs220, Rs1,120 and Rs1,600 per head respectively.

Before the Eid prayer after the fast of Ramadan, every adult Muslim who possesses food in excess of his needs and those of his family must pay Zakat al Fitr. If the person is a breadwinner, he should also pay Zakat al Fitr for his dependants.
