ISLAMABAD: The counsel for Dr Arsalan Iftikhar, son of the Chief Justice of Pakistan, presently involved in a corruption allegations controversy, has released a 10-point fact sheet regarding the investigation being carried out in the case not only criticizing the investigators but also claiming that Arsalan had paid millions in taxes during the past few years.
Sardar Ishaq, Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court, who is representing Arsalan Iftikhar, in his 10-point fact sheet criticized the attorney general of Pakistan and two members of the JIT formed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to investigate the allegations of Malik Riaz Hussain against the son of CJ.
Sardar Ishaq’s 10 points include that Arsalaan Iftikhar has no foreign accounts and that he has paid approximately Rs2.5 million and Rs3.5 million taxes in 2010 and 2011. It also says that Arsalan does not have Rs90 crore in any account as he does not have cash of more than Rs30 million.
He does not have any property or plots anywhere in Pakistan or abroad. He has a rented accommodation and uses a rented office and that NAB is using close associates of Malik Riaz as investigators against Arsalan Iftikhar for an engineered outcome.
The Supreme Court passed directives to investigate Irfan Qadir in Haris Steel scam while ordering his removal as NAB prosecutor general, the fact sheet says. According to LHC record Attorney General Irfan Qadir, who claims to be in charge of the investigation, was lawyer of Malik Riaz in 2008.
One member of NAB JIT Faisal Bashir Memon is very close to Malik Riaz and he was posted in Islamabad police by Malik Riaz to look after his interest, and he was SP Bahria. Head of the NAB JIT Kausar Iqbal Malik is a resident of Bahria Town.
He was involved in many scandals and that NAB Chairman Admiral Fasih Bokahri has established links with Malik Riaz, and his daughter was working in Bahria Town until just a few weeks back.
