BAHAWALPUR: Dozens of PPP-P activists, party loyalists and senior workers on Friday staged a protest demonstration against Punjab Governor Latif Khosa for allegedly ignoring senior party members during his trip to Bahawalpur. The demonstrators took out a protest rally and set up a protest camp. They claimed that the Punjab governor had deliberately ignored party workers during his Wednesday trip to Bahawalpur and had only met impostor workers on the direction of the party’s district President Aamer Yar Waran, who was also incidentally convicted in the fake degree case.Protesters brandished placards and banners and criticised the governor for distributing Rs3,000 cheques among the so-called party workers. They claimed that such a pantomine was a disgrace to the real party loyalists and workers. The protesting crowd chanted slogans against the governor and called for his immediate resignation.
It is worth mentioning here that the protest was managed by recently removed PPP-P district President Shakir Mirza who is now the chairman of the ad hoc newly formed Bahawalpur regional cricket body. Mirza led Friday’s protest along with other members of the ad hoc committee as well as a few PCB ground staffers working at Dring stadium. Sources also disclosed he had organised this protest demonstration simply to get even after having been stripped off his district post and replaced by Aamer Yar Waran.
