NEW DELHI: Salman Bashir, the high commissioner of Pakistan to India, on Friday presented his credentials to the President of India, Pratibha Devisingh Patil, at a ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan (President’s House) here.

 

The credentials presentation ceremony was attended by the officers of the Indian ministry of external affairs, the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.During his distinguished diplomatic career he held important positions in the government of Pakistan, including that of foreign secretary (from May 2008 to March 2012), ambassador of Pakistan to China and Mongolia (from 2005 to 2008), additional foreign secretary (2003-2005), and ambassador of Pakistan to Denmark and Lithuania (July 1999 to February 2003).
