HEAD RASOOL: Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Sunday that parliament was the mother of all institutions and a law enacted by it could not be abolished by the judiciary. He was talking to reporters here.
APP adds from Lalamusa: Kaira said that the amendment to the dual nationality law was not being made for an individual, rather it was being made for all those Pakistanis whose hearts beat for their country.
Talking to reporters at the Lalamusa Press Club and various delegations at Dera Kaira, he said that parliament had the authority to amend the Constitution. He said that dictators could not have ruled the country had political forces not sided with them.
The minister lamented that some political forces joined Ziaul Haq to get Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto executed and some welcomed dictators by beating drums.
“We are pursuing Benazir Bhutto Shaheed’s politics of reconciliation. In democracy, the mandate of each other is honoured,” he said, adding that though the PML-N left the PPP but his party did not leave the PML-N in Punjab.
Kaira said that Pakistan had been in dialogue with the US and Nato. “We have clearly told them that we are the part of the solution, not part of the problem.”
The minister said peace could not be established in the world without peace in Afghanistan. He said the US had sought a pardon after accepting the demand of Pakistan and also conveyed that it would not interfere in the internal affairs of Pakistan.
