All shops in the Blue Area shall be closed at 4 p.m. on Monday. The ministry sources said that citizens’ delegations comprising a cross-section of society met the senior advisor, interior, on Sunday and appealed to him not to allow Islamabad to be used for political activities or disturbing its peace and tranquillity be maintained at all costs.

The Senior Advisor to Prime Minister, Rehman Malik, also chaired a meeting to review the security arrangements for the Long March by the Difa-e-Pakistan Council. Secretary interior, additional secretary, chief commissioner, IG of police and reps of other law enforcement agencies were present.

The meeting decided that all law enforcing agencies (LEAs) including the Frontier Constabulary and Rangers would be deployed enroute the Long March to protect the participants, public and the private property. After 6 pm on Sunday onwards all entry points will be sealed and entry into Islamabad will be subject to security scrutiny and presenting ID cards to the Islamabad Police.

Peicemeal processions would not be allowed as it may provide an opportunity to miscreants to mix and cause mischief, the meeting decided, adding that the Dafa-e-Pakistan Council would ensure that the procession remains peaceful, an individuals of banned organizations and others placed on Schedule-IV of the ATA would not be allowed to enter Islamabad.

All necessary coordination will be worked out with Rawalpindi police by the chief commissioner and the IGP ICT. The head commend for security shall be the responsibility of the IGP, the interior ministry sources said, adding that aerial monitoring would be conducted by four helicopters from both sides of the Jinnah Avenue while two helicopters will be provided to the Rawalpindi police for aerial surveillance and ambulance and back-up support in case of any emergency shall be available.

The meeting decided that the participants of the Long March would not be allowed to carry firearms or batons with them and legal action would be taken against those who would breach the peace, adding that the leadership of the Difa-e-Pakistan Council would be requested to ensure that no weapons or batons will be carried by participants of the procession.

The main procession shall enter Islamabad from Faizabad to Khayaban Chowk, Jinnah Avenue and Express Chowk near Parade Avenue. That route shall be fully secured by the police who will ensure that the participants are fully protected and secured.

The sources said that it has also been agreed with the Difa-e-Pakistan Council that the participants from the Murree area will enter Islamabad through Faizabad. Barbed wire will be erected around congested commercial locations in the Blue Area, Islamabad.

The meeting asked the chairman NADRA to install CCTV long range cameras in the Blue Area, Islamabad. This CCTV live coverage will be monitored in the conference room of the NCMC, Ministry of Interior, where the ecretary interior will monitor the proceedings and speeches.No one will be allowed to park vehicles 500 metres inside the route of the long march and no traffic to be allowed to enter or leave Islamabad without proper checking by the police.
