RAWALPINDI: A division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Thursday granted interim bail till July 03 to the former PPP candidate for the slot of prime minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin. The LHC’s Rawalpindi bench comprising JusticeIjaz Ahmad and Justice Ali Baqir Najafi granted bail to Makhdoom Shahab against surety bonds of Rs100,000 and sought case record from the Anti Narcotics Force (ANF).
Makhdoom Shahab had filed a petition on Wednesday for his pre-arrest bail till final adjudication of the ephedrine case.In his petition Makhdoom Shahab took plea before the court that he has been roped into this matter with mala fide intentions to deter him from contesting the election of PM as majority party in the National Assembly had nominated him. It is worth mentioning that the ANF issued his arrest warrants one day prior to the election of the prime minister.
The petitioner had been granted a seven-day pre arrest protective transitory bail by Peshawar High Court (PHC) on June 22, 2012. Shahab adopted before the LHC that there is no incriminating material available against him and there is no evidence that connects him with the matter.
