QUETTA: Eight people were killed and two others sustained injuries when unknown armed men attacked a laundry shop on the Saryab Road here on Saturday.

 

Police said that 10 people were sitting in a laundry shop at Saryab Road when two unidentified armed men barged into the shop and opened fire in them. The attack was so sudden and intense that the victims could not retaliate.

 

Four persons were killed on the spot, while three others succumbed to their injuries on the way to the Civil Hospital. One of the injured died in hospital. The cause behind the cold blooded murders is yet to be ascertained.

 

On being informed, police and administration officials reached the scene and removed the deceased and shifted the injured to Civil Hospital.

 

Some of the deceased were identified as Gul Muhammad, Khair Muhammad, Nasrullah and Muhammad Umair Khan. The condition of two injured persons was stated to be stable.

 

Moving scenes were witnessed at Saryab Road and the Civil Hospital when the family members of the deceased came to know about the incident and reached the scene. Later, the bodies were handed over to the relatives for burial.

 

“It is yet to be confirmed whether it was an incident of target killing or the outcome of enmity,” said SP Saryab Sikandar Tareen while talking to the media persons at the incident site.
