ISLAMABAD: A high-powered inquiry committee has been constituted to ascertain the facts of the death of PPP leader Fauzia Wahab who was died after a minor operation in a hospital in Karachi, the Interior Ministry sources said.
Adviser to the PM on Interior Rehman Malik announced here after a high-level meeting on Monday.The Interior Ministry said that the adviser has ordered to constitute a committee to ascertain as to whether there was any negligence on the part of concerned doctors in the treatment of late Mrs Fauzia Wahab, MNA.
The committee shall be headed by the DG Health. The terms of reference (ToR) of the committee will be: the investigation carried out after Mrs Fauzia Wahab’s admission in the hospital till death including nursing care etc, examination andinvestigation of nursing care during the treatment.
The inquiry committee would determine as to whether there was any professional lapses by any of the attending doctors, surgeon, physician, micro-scopist and nurses and ascertain what was the failure of medical treatment and why it could not be avoided.
The committee would suggest and recommend the age of retirement of surgeon when they stop being efficient and professionally sound. The committee will submit its report within two weeks.
