ISLAMABAD: The murder case of Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Abdul Rehman Dashti has virtually been closed without investigating the powerful accused, a notorious drug trafficker who is father of a sitting MNA and the family of slain officer is running from pillar to post for their own protection.

Helpless and hopeless, the family has knocked at the door of Supreme Court writing an appeal to the Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry requesting his intervention for bringing the culprits to justice.

“Being the victims of this grave injustice we as family request the Hon’able Chief Justice Supreme Court of Pakistan to take suo moto action on this appeal and initiate meaningful steps to provide us justice,” reads an application dispatched to the Supreme Court.

DC Dashti was murdered on March 5 this year in DHA Karachi allegedly by Imam Bakhsh alias Imam Bheel when the former visited the latter’s house. Bheel is “a notorious criminal and an international drug trafficker,” according to the application.

He was involved in plane hijacking case of 1998 in addition to different murder cases, said the application. He was declared as “one of the significant international drug trafficker by the United States in 2009 through a Presidential Order.”

These background facts of Bheel are “slap in face of our society and a matter of shame for law enforcing agencies that such criminal roams around freely and no one seems to be concerned to apprehend such a criminal.” His son, Yaqoob Bizenjo is the sitting MNA who is “using political pressure on police and other law enforcing agencies to avoid arrest of his father.”

As DC Dashti was murdered allegedly by Bheel, the watch, ring and mobile phone of the slain were taken away by the accused, the dead-body was dumped in the car and driven away of some 200-meter distance from the accused residence, according to the application.

Dashti’s driver who had accompanied his slain boss saw this happening. Also, DIG South (Karachi), Shoukat Ali Shah had confirmed to the media that the crime scene, the residence of accused murderer, was washed away by his servants to remove the evidence, reads the application.

An FIR was lodged with Police Station Clifton, Karachi, on the application of Maqbool Hassan s/o Ghulam Hassan, the nephew of slain in which Bheel was nominated as culprit. “But it is noted with grave concern of the bereaved family that no concrete steps, have been taken to apprehend him despite the fact that he is nominated in this high profile murder case.”

As a family, reads the application, we are law abiding and peaceful citizens without any personal enmity with anybody. Under the given circumstances, the application goes on, we are justified to assume that law enforcement agencies have miserably failed to provide us justice which is the prime responsibility of the state. “We still feel threatened by this notorious criminal. This criminal has a prolonged history of maintaining his undue influence through committing murders and perpetrating other heinous crimes.”

In addition to praying for bringing the culprits to justice, the family of slain DC has requested the protection of his children who are being hounded and harassed by the alleged killer.

“It is important to draw your kind attention to the fact that in the face of such injustice, desperation and frustration with the system is natural. We hope our request will be heeded and our genuine grievances will be addressed in accordance with the law and justice.”
