PESHAWAR: The visiting US congressional delegation headed by Representative Rob Wittman called on the Khyber-Pakhtun-khwa Governor Barrister Masood Kausar at Governors House, Peshawar on Friday.

 

The delegation, also comprising Rep Mike Conaway and Steve Palazzo, was accompanied by the Peshawar based US Acting Consul General Stephen Engelken. The guests remained with the governor for some time and discussed matters of mutual interest with special reference to the situation in the region.

 

Talking on this occasion, the governor mentioned the prevailing situation in the province and Fata and also highlighted the historical facts in this connection. The situation prevailed in this region, he said, still carries a lot of challenges which indeed require joint efforts to overcome and bring normalisation in the society with accelerated pace.

 

The governor said that the people of both USA and Pakistan have in fact a long association of mutual cooperation, spread over almost six decades and there is a need that they should sit together and pave the way for creating an amicable situation for good working relationships for the future too.

 

Referring to the contribution of USA in the development of Pakistan, the governor said that the people of Pakistan highly value the support and cooperation of USA in their socio-economic well being. He especially appreciated the working of the US-Aid programme in this connection and wished its more effective contribution.
