ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior, Rehman Malik, while taking action on the letter written for unauthorised extension to duty tenure of 35 police officials working in UN Mission in Darfur, Sudan, has ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to investigate against those involved in writing the letter, the interior ministry sources said.

 

Talking to The News, Malik said that the ematter would be probed and investigation would be launched against the officials involved in the case regardless of their positions. The advisor asked FIA to lodge FIR against the people involved in the case, the sources said.

 

Meanwhile, following the order of the advisor, the FIA authorities have appointed Director FIA, Inam Ghani as investigation officer who has taken the relevant record into custody and started investigation, the FIA sources said.

 

Malik Friday called a meeting to discuss the issue and asked the interior ministry to submit the detailed report, the sources said. Minister of state for interior, secretary interior, director general FIA and other relevant officers attended the meeting.

 

The report said that a request was processed on May 7, 2012 and file was marked to secretary interior by additional secretary-III recommending extension of 6 months to 35 Pakistan’s police officials in UN peace Mission in Darfur, Sudan.
