PESHAWAR: Hasham Baber, the central finance secretary of Awami National Party (ANP) and a retired bureaucrat, tendered his resignation from the basic membership of the party on Monday.

The resignation addressed to party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan stated: “Although it was a very difficult decision which I was compelled to take with a heavy heart, but under the circumstances I strongly feel that I could not do justice to my public commitments any more from the ANP platform.”

Interestingly, Hasham Baber also mentioned in the resignation that he had full confidence in the leadership of the party chief. “Kindly allow me to say that I remain to have full confidence in your able and sincere leadership,” he wrote in the letter to Asfandyar Wali.

The differences between the party and Hasham Baber emerged when on February 19 he poured out his heart in an organisational meeting of the provincial assembly constituencies, PK-8 and PK-9, and criticised his party for ignoring his home constituency in context of development work.
