KARACHI: The fraudulent sale of over 375 acres of land in Scheme 33 of Deh Thoming worth approximately Rs9.84 billion is taking place, The News has learnt on Sunday.
According to sources, this unlawful selling of government land is not a recent development but has been taking place since 1984.
It was on the directives of the Board of Revenue that this fraudulent scheme has finally come to light. On 25 February the revenue administrative officer of Scheme 33 wrote a letter (Letter No MUKH/ACSO/SCH-33/128/2012 Karachi) to the Assistant Commissioner and other concerned authorities revealing the underhanded activities taking place. The revenue administrative officer, in his letter, testified to the fact that upon close scrutiny of the official records of Deh Thoming, he found entries 3, 4, 148, 189, 192, 244, and 72 and 73 in VII, VF and VF-II all to be extremely ambiguous, and that the fraudulent sale of over 375 acres of land was being carried out by Sonix Housing Private Ltd.
The director of the implicated company, Sonix Private Ltd Chand Babu, was duly contacted for a statement, but he failed to answer his telephone or reply to any of the text messages sent to him.
